Property Description

Our Chalet Sylvana is a refurbished hotel and is our original chalet to which our guests want to return year after year due to its informal and friendly atmosphere. It is comfortable but not luxurious. It has 15 small but homely ensuite bedrooms, and lots of hot water at all times! There is a relaxing open plan sitting and bar area with log fire and a TV/DVD room downstairs with WIFI. We have an excellent chef who has been with us for five years and the food is very good. The chalet is located in a quiet lane with a sunny terrace with views of the open mountainside. It is only 150m from the Rochebrune cable car and a 5 minute stroll down to the centre of the picturesque town.

The price includes Sunday morning coach transfers to and from Geneva airport, breakfast, afternoon tea and 3 course dinner with wine (except on Friday which is our staff night off). Also included is our accompanied skiing programme on 3 mornings of the week.

Coach transfers leave Geneva Airport at 11:30-12:00 and departs Megève the following Sunday at 07:30 to reach Geneva by 09:00. Exact times will depend on guests' flight times and are subject to delays. If your flights do not coincide with these times, we charge £20 per person each way for shared transfers between 09:00 and 21:00 (£15 per person each way if 5 or more travelling together).

Shared transfers means that several parties of guests travel in the same minibus or coach. We try to minimise waiting time at the airport. Usually this is less than an hour, but occasionally it can be more, in particular if flights are delayed. On departure day, we normally plan to leave Megeve 3 hours before your flight time. This can vary if weather is bad or we expect traffic delays or is you are sharing with others on an earlier flight. We try not to make it more than 4 hours, except for evening departures when we may sometimes ask you to leave earlier than necessary and enjoy the bars and restaurants at the airport. (Please note: there is a public bus service which runs 3 times a day, charges £30 each way and takes an hour longer!)

There is a £10 per person supplement for flight arrival or departure check-in before 09:00 or after 21:00.

Local Activities

Megeve is a beautiful, very French, town full of character and delightful to explore. It has a pedestrianised centre with a Medieval church and narrow, cobbled streets full of exclusive boutiques, delicatessens, bars and restaurants. There is plenty to do for non-skiers and skiers alike - two ice rinks (one indoor which is home to the local ice hockey team, one outdoor), a 25m swimming pool and saunas in the main sports centre, indoor tennis courts, an indoor climbing wall, etc. You can also be pampered at beauty salons or take a calèche (horse-drawn carriage) ride around the town. Pedestrian lift passes are available so non-skiers can go up into the mountains and meet the skiers for lunch at one of the many mountain restaurants. You could also try snow-shoeing or take a hot air balloon ride (about £200 per person) or a 30 minute plane ride over the peaks of Mont Blanc and the Vallée Blanche glacier (about £80 per person).
