Ski AccommodationIf you’re an avid skier then the idea of the perfect ski accommodation is second best only to a fantasy forecast of non-stop, fluffy snow. Depending on where in the world you choose to ski, the accommodation options could be very different. Do you want to stay on mountain, with ski-in, ski-out access? Or would you prefer to stay in the resort village, close to restaurants, bars and other après ski entertainment? Are you interested in taking a ski lesson, or trying out a new sport like snowboarding? Or would you like to be able to take advantage of night skiing, which is not offered at every mountain? All of these things are questions to ask when choosing your ski accommodation.

Fabulous skiing is available in Europe, Canada and the USA, although your budget, skiing ability and knowledge of foreign languages might cause you to choose a destination in one over the others. In Europe, popular ski destinations include several resorts in the European Alps, such as those in Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy. If you love to ski, then visiting one of these destinations would be a special treat for you, as the Alps were the birthplace of alpine skiing as we have come to know it. “The Arlberg” is what skiers know as a series of five breathtaking towns high in the Alps of Western Austria that are joined together by 85 different ski lifts and hundreds of runs.If you’re looking to stay in the biggest and best the Alps have to offer, consider at the St. Alton, one of the most popular resorts in the world.

The Rocky Mountains in western United States offer some of the best skiing and accommodations in North America, with world class resorts in Colorado, Utah and California. If you’re interested in a wide variety of terrain and lodging options at a reasonable price, consider Colorado resorts like Keystone, or Winter Park. If you are interested in luxury accommodations, dining options and the possibility of an occasional celebrity sighting, resort towns like Vail, Aspen and Snowmass might be the place to choose for your ski vacation.

No matter which continent you choose to ski on, there are always a variety of ski accommodations available to you. If you prefer the self-sufficiency of a fully furnished cabin or ski chalet or the ease of a full-service bed and breakfast or hotel, accommodations of all kinds await you on your ski vacation.
